There were a lady (let’s call her S) and a guy (let’s call him B) and both of them were in different colleges. There was no way in which they could have run into each other. B’s college decided to host a tech fest and B was asked to contact someone at S’s institute, but he ended up contacting her because he couldn’t contact the concerned person. Who knew that the ‘cross-connection’ was going to start a new story!
Both of them were very comfortable with each other. B and S never needed words to talk to each other. It’s their eyes that used to do the talking. They met once every 2 to 3 months. But their destiny had something else in store for them. They could not stay together forever. With a heavy heart, B and S had to part our ways. S got married after a few months. It was heartbreaking to B’s love getting married to someone else. B congratulated her on the day before her wedding and bid her farewell (at least, in this life).
Bidding farewell to someone makes us feel sad…but the memories…the time that you have spent with that person makes you feel even sadder. These moments become memories and reside in our mind and body forever.
It was hard for him to get back on track. But time is the best healer. 3 years have passed since then… During this period, B had never thought of seeing her in person again.
One day B was searching for a book in a library. When he found it and started to leave, he noticed a lady, very similar to S, entering the library. His mind told him that it can’t be her. He completely ignored her and continued walking. But as he reached closer, he was shocked to see S in front of him and she was also giving those surprising looks. Both of them stopped right there, where they were. Everything seemed to come to a standstill. Both of them smiled at each other. B went back in their memories. Everything flashed in front of his eyes. She looked the same since the last time he saw her. He then noticed the wedding ring that brought him back in the present.
They exchanged pleasantries and started talking like they used to earlier. Her smile could still melt his heart. He was feeling strange whenever he looked at her wedding ring, constantly reminding him to depart. B gathered all his courage and said goodbye. He turned around and started walking towards the exit. He had a lump in his throat. He wanted to turn around to say a final goodbye but he couldn’t.
B returned home and had several emotional outbursts. Throughout the night, he was wondering about S. Those few minutes took him back to the time that they have spent with each other. B wished to hug S and cry his heart out but he couldn’t talk to her properly.
All he wanted to say is, “Mohabbat karnewale kam na honge… teri mehfil mein lekin hum na honge”.

Nothing could be more painful than this. A person smiling and talking the day before, and lying stiff the next day…… these gets etched in our brain forever. The happy memories too makes us feel sad. Just cant move on. Bidding farewell for lifetime is indeed tougher than anything else. And we stand so helpless, we want to move back in time but its all just memories.
Absolutely right…
such a cute love story waiting to know about happy ending part.
Hope, your wish gets fulfilled. 🙂
This is a bitter sweet little writing–but so well written I could feel the emotions within B’s heart. I hope you are planning to write a happy ending.
Really cute story!
Oh my. I love how the story goes. Being away with someone we love is the hardest part especially if you think with those memories you had.
absolutely…
You write well Sudip. Why don’t you start writing stories on wattpad. It is a great field.
It’s always interesting to see how peoples’ paths cross and what becomes of them. Hoping B can find his own path to happiness.
A sweet-sad and heart-warming story. You left us with quite a mystery with the Hindi text at the end. I looked up what it means and found that it keeps with the bitter-sweet and slightly unknown ending of the story. Loss is sad, but it’s always worth to have loved!
It’s taken from the opening lines of a popular song.
Awe this is such a sweet story so far! i would love to read more
Broken heart cannot be mended even with Fevicol. May be he should have found out about her status. Is she separated and ready to start over. Or she is still with her husband and he should move on. May be drink a little more and listen to songs from Pyasa by Gurudutt.
I agree that the memories of good times can be the saddest part of leaving someone behind.
This is such a lovely story and reminds me of what it is like to lose somebody in life and then reconnect with them again later.
In every sadness there will be another situation of happiness. Hang on to everything! Good things will surely happen!
people say that time heals everything… but the pain of incomplete love rarely goes away.
