South Korean Smartphone maker, Samsung has launched its much-awaited flagship smartphone, Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ at Mobile World Congress 2018 at Barcelona, Spain. The device will be available starting March 16, 2018, and will be offered in Midnight Black, Titanium Gray, Coral Blue and a new hue, Lilac Purple.
The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ also include AR Emoji and an upgraded Bixby AI Assistant. The AR Emoji feature allows users to create an emoji that looks, sounds and acts like them. It uses a data-based machine learning algorithm, which analyzes a 2D image of the user and maps out more than 100 facial features to create a 3D model that reflects and imitates expressions, for true personalization. These emojis can also be shared across third-party messaging platforms. Both the smartphones also include Dolby Atmos speakers.
Both the handsets are equipped with ‘Intelligent Scan’ feature – multimodal biometric authentication with iris scanning and face recognition. Both the handsets will come with Samsung Dex, a feature that allows the user to use their smartphone like a computer by docking it to monitor, keyboard, and mouse with the help of Samsung Dex Dock. Both the devices support fast and wireless charging. The handsets come with ‘Infinity Displays’ and are dust and water resistant.
Samsung Galaxy S9
The Samsung Galaxy S9 sport a 5.8-inch Quad HD+ Curved Super AMOLED with an aspect ratio of 18.5:9. The handset will run on a 10nm 64-bit octa-core processor and includes 4GB RAM with 64GB/128GB/256GB of internal storage, expandable up to 400GB. The handset runs on Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box.
The handset features a Super Speed Dual Pixel 12MP camera with Autofocus and OIS sensors. On the front, it includes an 8MP camera with Autofocus senor. The handset packs a 3,000mAh battery.
Samsung Galaxy S9+
The Samsung Galaxy S9+ sport a 6.2-inch Quad HD+ Curved Super AMOLED with an aspect ratio of 18.5:9. The handset will run on a 10nm 64-bit octa-core processor and includes 6GB RAM with 64GB/128GB/256GB of internal storage, expandable up to 400GB. The handset runs on Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box.
The handset features a dual camera setup at the back which includes a wide angle Super Speed Dual Pixel 12MP camera with Autofocus and OIS sensors and a 12MP camera with Autofocus sensor. On the front, it includes an 8MP camera with Autofocus senor. The handset packs a 3,500mAh battery.
Both the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ feature WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0 LE, USB Type – C, NFC and GPS. Sensors on the phones include – Iris sensor, Pressure sensor, Accelerometer, Barometer, Fingerprint sensor, Gyro sensor, Geomagnetic sensor, Hall sensor, HR sensor, Proximity sensor and RGB Light sensor.
