Hello, friends! How are you spending the lockdown period? Even I didn’t know how to spend these 21 days at home. Then, my friend recommended me to watch The Final Call on ZEE5 platform. Without wasting a minute, I decided to watch the trailer. The trailer left me awestruck and couldn’t resist completing the entire series on Day 1.

Life is unpredictable, isn’t it? Nobody knows when, where, and what could happen in life. How would you react if I tell you that the next flight that you are going to board is going to be the last flight of your life? Well, that’s the main story of The Final Call.

The thriller is based on Priya Kumar’s 2015 novel, ‘I will go with you: The flight of a lifetime’. Directed by Vijay Lalwani, the story revolves around the flight captain of Skyline flight 502, Karan Sachdev (Arjun Rampal), who is dealing with depression and the 300 passengers that includes an astrologer Krishnamurthy (Neeraj Kabi), a business tycoon Siddharth Singhania (Javed Jaffrey), whose lives are endangered after the captain decides to commit suicide onboard.

Karan Sachdev is a former Wing Commander of the Indian Air Force, later became a commercial pilot. Captain Sachdev is suffering from depression, which is further multiplied by the death of his wife and daughters in an accident. The incident shattered him and decided to end his life. He decides to end his life in mid-air while commanding a Mumbai to Sydney flight. The pilot manages to carry a poisonous drug to the cockpit. Before he could execute his plans, something happens, and that brings an unexpected twist to the story. Later, Air Traffic Control (ATC) head Kiran Mirza (Sakshi Tanwar), who is an ex-army officer, and Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) officer Kale (Vipin Sharma) try to save the lives of the passengers. Now, what was the unexpected twist? Can the ATC and ATS officers save the lives of the passengers? To know the answer, you need to watch The Final Call on ZEE5.

In this story, we see different shades of Arjun Rampal’s character. It throws light on the mental trauma that Armed Forces officers have to go through when their hands are stained with the blood of innocent lives. His character will touch your heart. The story also touches on the concept of spirituality, the concept of life and death, and astrology.

The drone shots were breathtaking. I have rarely seen such kind of drone shots. The direction and screenplay were brilliant. The most notable part of the series was that the story gave equal importance to every character – it covers the back story of other passengers. It is a character-driven story. The story is crisp, with no diversions and will keep you hooked till the last moment.

Verdict:  The unique content, crisp story, visualization of the content, and the realistic touch makes The Final Call a must-watch. The drone shots are perfectly utilized. The flashback transitions could have been better. The story is completely different from the ‘usual web series’ that you see on the Internet.

Rating: 4.2/5
