On Day 2 of A2Z Challenge 2019, I will try to cover the A2Z of Blog. During keyword selection, I was in a dilemma of selecting between Broadband and Blog. At the end of the day, I picked the blog as my keyword.
This is a Blogging Challenge, and in this A2Z of Blog post, I will try to cover some interesting things about the platform of this challenge. So, what is a blog? According to Wikipedia, “A blog (shortened form of ‘weblog’) is a discussion or informational website published on the World Wide Web consisting of discrete, often informal diary-style text entries.” In a blog, posts are arranged in reverse chronological order, with newest posts appearing first.
A2Z of Blog – Blog Types
Let’s discuss the different types of blogs. They are:
- Personal Blog: This is an author’s (blogger) diary, contain posts written by an individual author. They share their personal commentary.
- Group Blog: In group blogging, the blog is managed by more than one author.
- Corporate Blog: Some organisations use corporate blogs to enhance their communication, both internal and external.
- Aggregated Blog: Individuals or organisations may aggregate selected feeds on a specific topic. They are a great way to produce top-notch content. This allows the reader to focus on reading as they can easily get all the required information.
- Media Blogs: A blog comprising videos is called a vlog (Video Blog), a site containing a portfolio of sketches is called a sketch-blog or one comprising photos is called a photoblog. A blog comprising links is called a link-log. Tumblelogs are blogs with shorter posts and mixed media types. Blogs that are written on typewriters and then scanned are called typecast blogs. A phlog, also called rlog, is a type of daybook, similar to a blog, that runs off a Gopher protocol server.
- Micro Blog: A microblog is a type of blog in which users can post small pieces of digital content like pictures, video or audio on the Internet. E.g.: Social Networking sites.
A2Z of Blog – Blog vs Website
Now, what makes a blog different from a website?
- Blogs are dynamic as they are frequently updated. Websites are static as they are rarely updated.
- Readers can interact with the authors by posting comments. Websites don’t allow readers to comment.
- All blogs are websites. However, not all websites are blogs. Remember syllogism ?? 😉
