#TheBlindList A journey to ‘The Undefined’ to #SayYesToTheWorld

Today, I had the last exam of my last semester. The exam went well, and I was feeling nostalgic that today was the last day of my college life. I was finalised by an MNC and my date of joining was 4 months away. While returning home, I came across an update on a social media site where a global travel agency was running a contest and the winner would get to a chance to go on a solo world trip via sea-route.

I love to travel to explore new places. Since childhood, I have seen myself exploring the world by travelling to new places. So, I immediately submitted my entry, and I was eagerly waiting for the results.

The results were declared and to my surprise, I found that I was the winner. My parents weren’t ready to let me go alone but somehow I convinced them and got their consent. In the next few weeks, I was given a rigorous training on how to run the cruise and was taught all the things that I need to know about the solo boat travel. In this period, I also prepared my bucket list with all the To-Dos.

Finally, the day arrived and I started my journey from Babu Ghat, Kolkata, to #SayYesToTheWorld. Day 1 went well. On Day 2, my boat caught in a violent storm in the Indian Ocean. When I looked behind I found that waves of about 15 to 20 feet high were chasing me. The wind was blowing at more than 100mph and it was becoming very difficult for me to keep the ship steady. I became worried and I started praying to God so that the weather becomes normal at the earliest.

#TheBlindList and #SayYesToTheWorld

Suddenly, a lightning bolt struck in front of me and I immediately lost my senses….. I opened my eyes… I didn’t know how much time did I spent in an unconscious state. Then, I got up and found that my boat was in absolutely good condition but the colour of the water was different. When I touched it I found that it wasn’t water, but it was milk.

There was no wind but the boat was moving on its own. It seems that I was in a sea of milk…or an ocean…maybe?

Fear gripped me…for the first time, and I was about to break down. Then, I suddenly saw a mountain at a distance…an unusual light was coming out from it. My boat was moving in that direction.

As I started getting nearer, it turned out to be a giant multi-headed serpent and someone is resting on it. I was horrified.

It was Lord Shri Vishnu resting on Adishesha. I was horrified and delighted at the same. I bowed before him. Then, he disappeared and re-appeared in front of me. I folded my hands. I was on top on the world when I was right in front of him.

Then, I gathered myself and asked him if I was alive. He smiled and replied, ‘Yes’. Then, I asked him whether I will be able to return home and resume from the point where I left. He smiled and said, ‘Yes’. Then, I asked him how did I reach here. He told that he wished so… and that’s why I was in front of him and everything in this universe goes according to his will. He then said, “You wanted to take a tour of the entire Earth but I want to take you on a tour of this entire Universe. We shall travel in time and space to understand how everything started.” #TheBlindList will let me travel in time and space travel !! This is unimaginable. I immediately said Yes with my hands folded.

I can’t believe that Lord is going to teach me Vedic Cosmology. He started from the point where there was void. As he narrated, the surroundings started changing. His words and the pace at which the surroundings were in-sync. I can’t believe that I was travelling in time and space. Formation of the universe and its evolution…everything was happening in front of my eyes. Got to know about time, space, energy and matter.

Samudra Manthan, Burning of Lanka and the battle between Lord Shri Ram and Ravana were happening in front of my eyes. Then, dwapar yuga came and the 18 days of the Mahabharata War was about to begin. I requested the Lord to slow the pace because I wanted to listen to the Bhagavad Gita. The Lord smiled and slowed the pace. I can’t believe that I am going to listen to world’s best conversation with my own ears. Tears of happiness started rolling down from my eyes as the conversation between Arjuna and Lord Shri Krishna started. That was an enriching experience for me.

Things sped up as the conversation ended. It was the best conversation in the history of mankind. A conversation that answers all our questions related to life. We then entered Kal Yuga where, I saw Monarchy, King Vikramaditya, Democracy and the appearance of Kalki Avatar.

When he stopped, I found that everything was shaking. Perhaps… a massive earthquake?? Then, someone started calling my name…it was a familiar voice. I wanted to ask him about it. The Lord then told me that its time for him to leave. I folded my hands, and then he disappeared by blessing me.

The next moment… I opened my eyes and saw that my mother was trying to wake me up because I missed the alarm by 40 minutes.

A mythological twist to your bucket list. Nice!

I could actually imagine “Main samay hoon” (in Harish Bhimani’s baritone) in the background as I read through your post. If you watched Mahabharat in the 90’s, you will know what I mean.:D

  4. A BlindDate with Lord Vishnu! That is a nice balance if fiction and mythology. I like the way you have made an appropriate reference to mythological events and strung them into relevance in the plot’s reference.
